QUALITY AND DURABILITY
- Tests the raw steel before the manufacturing process begins, eliminating problems before the steel enters the production process;
- Implements a comprehensive Quality Control Plan outlining specific steps—from fabrication and heat-treating to final assembly—as the products move through the manufacturing facility, ensuring the quality and durability of all leaf springs;
- Inspects and fatigue tests the leaf springs during the course of production;
- Regularly works with an independent professional metallurgist to ensure the continued quality and durability of our leaf springs.
HEAT-TREATING
Our fully calibrated and certified heat-treating furnaces
and hardness testers enable us to offer a broad range of heat-treating
capabilities. At Rockwell American, we can form and heat-treat cross-sections
from 1.75 x 0.237 to 4.00 x 1.375.
INSPECTION AND TESTING
Our comprehensive Fatigue Testing Program provides
the backbone for all our leaf spring inspections and testing conducted
throughout the manufacturing process.
At Rockwell American, we implement a variety of inspection and quality
control techniques to ensure the highest level of quality:
- Hardness testing
- Statistical process control
- Metallurgic analysis
- Load and deflection testing
- Custom inspection of gauges and fixtures
- Destructive testing
- Fatigue testing
In a lab setting under controlled testing conditions,
we conduct daily fatigue testing by load and deflection. With results
available in 2 to 3 hours using our Accelerated Fatigue Testing Program,
Rockwell American ensures the quality and durability of all leaf springs
before they leave the door.
STEEL
Rockwell American works closely with a variety
of reliable steel manufactures to ensure dependable access to top quality,
fine-grain 5160H steel with high tensile strength for improved durability.
